esters are now in the process of taking another statewide forest inventory. Results of this inventory will not be available until late 1976.
There are more than 68,000 wage earners directly dependent on the forest industry which is dependent on the raw material supplied by our forests. The citizens of the state and Nation demand the products of the industry. This means that we must continue a strong reforestation program and encourage wise management on all 16 million acres of Virginia’s wooded areas.
“Virginia can and must retain her leadership position because of economics and the many other forest resource related values,” concluded Custard.
