After all, those programs have to be paid for, and the magic grants that were supposed to pay for everything have a way of disappearing when the bills come due. □
Absentee ballots
The last day to vote by absentee ballot is November 1. Voters who will be absent on election day November 4 must obtain absentee ballots from their local office of the General Registrar. Military personnel and their spouses, students and their spouses, persons employed overseas, their dependents and spouses, and persons physically unable to to to the polls may vote by absentee ballot, if they apply by October 30.
Bicentennial plates
OVER fifty thousand advance applications have been received for Virginia’s colorful red, white and blue Bicentennial license plates, which the Division of Motor Vehicles will begin issuing on January 1, 1976.
Since July, DMV has been enclosing applications for the optional passenger car tags with registration renewal notices, but car owners may obtain applications at any DMV office or vehicle license agency.
Buyers will pay a one-time fee of $5, plus normal annual registration fees, and will display the commemorative Bicentennials during the period January 1, 1976 to December 31, 1981. □
