LORD Fairfax Community College has scheduled a non-credit Continuing Education course in “Houseplants from A to Z ” beginning October 27 and continuing each Monday from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. through December 1. The cost for the six-week course is $18.
Houseplants from A to Z will include an introduction to the basic skills related to indoor gardening; i.e. soils, watering, feeding, potting, light, and pest control. Specific plants families such as ferns, cacti and succulents, flowering plants, etc. will be described. In addition, students will learn various methods to propagate plants and to “cure” plant failure.
Maxine Zinman, the instructor, is a graduate of American University and has studied Horticulture at Northern Virginia Community College. She has lectured for the VPI & SU Extension Service in Loudoun County and to a number of garden clubs on plant propaga
