The Storage Structure and Drying Equipment Loan Program has been helpful to Virginia Farmers over the past 20 years. This program has provided for over 4500 loans and nearly 13 million dollars of capital to Virginia Farmers.
Storage Structure and Dryer Loans provided funds to enable farmers to erect needed storage on the farm and to purchase equipment needed to dry and condition crops that are produced on the farm.
Once a farmer has storage facilities located on his farm, he may obtain loans on crops stored in these structures. This type of loan provides a farmer with some working capital while still retaining ownership of his crops. This will allow the producer to sell when market prices are favorable rather than selling at harvest time.D
