This time love was exchanged, and when the seasons had come and gone twice there was a proposal of marriage, which was accepted as quickly as it had been asked.

So on a cold late Autumn day when fall was giving way to winter and threat of an early snow was in the air, this man and woman were married on Dec. 12, 1947 in the Baptist Parsonage in Culpeper, Va.

From this marriage was born three children. The first born was my sister Carol Petty Ritenour; second a son, my brother James Franklin Petty (Jimmy); and another daughter, myself.
