For the 16th consecutive year Fairfax had the highest number of traffic deaths. Henrico and Prince William were next with 29 each. On a mileage,.death,rate basis, Westmoreland, with 9.8 had the worst record while York, with 9.0, had the second worst. Shenandoah, with two killed and a rate of .8 was second best to the zero ratings and Arlington, with ten killed and with a rate of 1.0 was next.
Notable county death increases were shown by Fairfax, from 53 to 71, and Stafford, from 11 to 19. Most significant decreases were shown by Rockingham, from 19 to 11, Powhatan, from nine to two, and Northampton from 10 to two.
