Richmond, Va.—Colonel D. M. Slane, Superintendent of State Police, announced today that in 1976 Virginia achieved an unprecedented fourth consecutive year in the reduction of motor vehicle traffic deaths.

Official tabulation of Virginia’s 1976 traffic deaths indicate 1,020 individuals lost their lives, 10 less than the 1,030 in 1975.
