Mr. and Mrs. Fred Harris, Sr., of Front Royal celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday afternoon, May 1, when approximately 70 relatives and friends gathered in the Chester Gap Fire Hall for the occasion. Hostesses were: Mrs. James Harris and daughter, Candy, and Mrs. Joe Williams and daughter, Donna. Mrs. Mary Walker of Norfolk, Mr. and Mrs. James Harris and family of Roanoke, and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Poe of Clifton were among those from out of town. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Harris were married May 1, 1927, in Front Royal in the Methodist Church parsonage with the Rev. Hall officiating.
L. A. Cheney of Suburban Sausilito, Calif, arrived^ Saturday to visit his mother, Mrs. M. M. Chastain, and other relatives. Mrs. Howard Cheney is reported improved following emergency treatment Tuesday morning at Warren Memorial Hospital.
