How we use these precious resources will determine the shape of our future, whether it will be crowded and dirty, polluted and helterskelter, or orderly and neat, well-managed and healthy, a decent place to live and work, grow and prosper. We will continue to emphasize land use challenges in our new publication.”
The Piedmont Virginian’s switch to monthly publication, due to acknowledged financial pressures, does not mean to us that we or other newspapers have beaten it. Rather it has had the courage to stand the line and has been successful in helping bring public and official realization of the hard fact that we have got to square up to the economic and environmental consequences of failing in this smaller world to plan and protect our farm industry and natural resources. The Piedmont Virginian, published weekly during our crossing into America’s Third Century, has made a significant contribution to the quality of life here.
