The RappahannockRapidan Planning District Commissioners took a first step towards an in depth study of the area's criminal justice system at last Thursday’s meeting. The Commissioners passed a resolution requesting the Criminal Justice Advisory Council to determine the feasibility of making a crime study on one of the District’s five counties.
Commission Chairman E. P. Luke suggested that the studv trace criminal justice action from the “cradle to the grave.”
“From commitment of the crime to incarceration,’’ amended Criminal Justice Planner John Jones.
“Or non-incarceration,” added Commissioner Steve Mcllvaine.
Commissioner Preston Moore brought up the topic by stating his concern over the morale of law enforcement officials.Instances occur over and over through the court system only to be released back onto the streets, said Moore.
