The Rappahannock School system will conduct a survey of prospective kindergarten parents to determine the number of students interested in half-day classes. The survey was authorized at the School Board’s July 12 meeting in response to a request from Sharon Kilpatrick that the Board consider allowing parents the option of choosing either full or half-day classes.
School Board members have indicated in the past that they will be forced to go with four half-day classes for kindergarteners if program enrollment exceeds the 32 pupil per class limit, established by the state. The school budget for the coming year allows for only two kindergarten teachers.
