A couple of years ago, she was asked by a new teacher if she planned to attend the Board meeting. Mrs. Quaintance replied that she only went when there was an item on the agenda that applied directly to her school. “Do you think I should go?” she asked the teacher. After getting yes for an answer, she has sat in regularly on School Board sessions. It’s likely that she has put forth this extra effort in her relationships with parents and teachers also.
Mrs. Quaintance should be able to look back over her half century in education with pride. If her instincts are right, she has accomplished something that few teachers can match. “During all my years here, I only had one child that I felt I never reached."
