Smoot reported that he had finished recording geocode numbers for all parcels except some of the subdivisions and had worked out cost figures on the project. The time spent on each parcel was approximately one and half minutes, or three cents, with a total of $149.50 for geocoding all the county parcels, said Smoot.
He maintained that the geocode system would make the Commissioner of Revenue’s job easier and recommended that the Planners accept use of the system immediately before his work was outdated.
Planner Newbill Miller commented that he could see benefits in adopting the system if the county goes to computers for tax billing and other records. Otherwise, he predicted it would require more time rather than save time.
Piedmont Vocational School has a computer available for use by the county, volunteered Planner Walter Masterson.
