Bowser. She noted that a lack of work had made it necessary to accept some jobs from private individuals. All the private jobs have been outside and, in the case of Washington, affect the looks of the town and have long lasting benefit. “We don’t mow lawns or anything like that...Preferably, the work is done for low income families,” Miss Bowser added.
Some of the projects completed by or planned for the CETA youths are:
—Surveys and work on land use planning under the supervision of the county Engineer’s office and the offices of the Piedmont Environmental Council.
—Flooring and gravel work at the Washington Fire Department’s new building.
