At Rush River

The Rush River Company will hold another author's signature event, this time featuring Senator Eugene McCarthy and his recent book, "Mr. Raccoon and His Friends." The happening will be at the Rush River Company Store (across from the Rappahannock Clinic), Gay Street, Washington, Va., on Saturday, May 6, from 2 p.m. to A p.m. To make it even more fun for the kids, puppet demonstrations are being planned in conjunction with the event.

"Mr. Raccoon and His Friends” is a collection of childrens’ stories which Sen McCarthy told to his children when they were young. One chapter deals with the coming of spring, another on the effects of the change to daylight savings time. Similar subjects fill the pages.

All are stories that children will enjoy hearing or reading; adults will be interested with the light satire.

Sen. McCarthy has published eight books to date with two more in the works The former presidential candidate purchased properly in Sperryville last November and has since made Rappahannock County his home
