McCarthy said the book will also deal with tough subjects like “Carter’s last priority” which the former Senator sees as being “teethered on the White House lawn.”
“People started to use priorities carelessly and before you knew it, we were down to one,” McCarthy joked.
"We had a pretty good time writing it,” he said, adding that the book was full of “the sort of thing you think about in Rappahannock County on cold winter nights.”
Poetry and politics is not an odd combination, McCarthy continued. During the Irish Revolution, he recalled, "if you couldn’t write bad poetry, you couldn't be a leader.’’ President Lincoln was a poet, he noted, although Lincoln published his work anonymously.
Asked about his future plans for activity in the political arena, McCarthy said he hoped to get another case before the U. S. Supreme Court challenging
