Cadette Girl Scout Troop No. 502 attended “What’s My Line” a career conference for girls and women on April 29. This was sponsored by the Virginia Skyline Girl Scout Council and the Governor’s Commission on the Status of Women for Virginia. The conference was held at Lynchburg College. Forty experts were available in small workshop sessions to explain their various career fields.
Girls were encouraged to plan early for the future, rather than letting careers happen by accident. Knowing yourself was listed as the first step in planning. Nontraditional roles for women and the job outlook for the future were also stressed. Another aspect of the day was the reunion with old friends and the chance to make new ones. Girl Scout cookie sales made this trip possible.
