About ten years ago, a similar fate hit trees in the Swift Run Gap area. Fisher, who has been keeping check on the effects of that storm over the intervening years, said that the old, unhealthy trees, badly damaged, have died but that the young healthy ones have overcome the effects of the storm.
“All forms of life are resilient, it appears,” Fisher commented.
He bemoaned the fact, however, that there are not nearly enough professional tree surgeons in the area to ensure there will be proper recovery of trees from the Easter Sunday storm of 1978.
