A heavy rig travelling east on Route 211 near Turnbridge Friday afternoon was wrecked when it overturned. The 1974 tractor, pulling a refrigerated trailer loaded with chicken dinners, overturned on the highway after the driver, George Frederick Fincel of Tulsa, Okla. failed to negotiate a curve, according to Trooper H. A. Newlin.
The trailer struck another vehicle, a 1977 International Scout owned and operated by Mrs. Agnes Ann Phillips of Washington, D.C. Fincel was cited for reckless driving, said Newlin.
A collision Sunday night in front of the local high school resulted in two vehicles being declared total losses. Investigation of the collision continues.
Involved were a 1966 Dodge driven by Michael Albert Hayten of Silver Spring, Md. and a 1970 Plymouth registered to Thomas E. Rector of Amissville. Hayten sustained head contusions and lacerations of the arm, said Trooper C. A. Moore who is investigating.
