One of my neighbors tells me that a sure fire way to get rid of yellow jackets is to fill your power lawn mower up with gas. Start the engine and push the lawn mower over the yellow jacket hole. Leave the lawn mower running over the hole until it runs out of gas. Then come back that night and pour boiling water down the hole to finish off the few survivors.

On August 23, the Sperryville Rescue Squad was called to Peola Mills, but their services were not used. They responded to an automobile accident on Rt. 211 east of Sperryville August 24 and carried Patricia Schmidt to Culpeper Memorial Hospital.
The Flint Hill Rescue Squad transported Mrs. Mamie Wrenn from Warren Memorial Hospital to her home in Washington August 24.
