Dalton has officially recognized October 4, 1978 as Citizens Band Recognition Day.
The Certificate of Recognition signed by Governor Dalton notes that “Properly used, the Citizens Band Radio can be an assist to highway safety, providing faster notification of highway accidents, reducing response time and reporting unsafe drivers or driving conditions."
The Department of State Police, utilizing CB radios provided through a grant from the Department of Transportation Safety, conducted a pilot program in selected police vehicles for several months in 1977.
