“Among other things I must get used to are the mosquitos, ants. Lizzards, and roaches. They are ever present," Libby said. “And the open sewage systems, where the effluent is carried out in open ditches. Also there is not much privacy in the homes.”
“We had an interesting experience learning the process by which rubber is made and we visited a Hundu temple and talked with a guru. Hope to visit a Muslim court, too.” said Libby. "Have enjoyed the fruit here which is abundant and they have a variety of small bananas which are very sweet and delicious; better than the ones we get at home.”
"My greatest problem so far except for the language, is the laundry which we do by hand and mine never come clean. We spread our clothes on the floor and scrub them with a brush. Keeping clean is quite a process and we take two baths a day. During the fast when we are not supposed to eat or drink, the bath water was even tempting." she said.
Libby ends with this thought, "How fortunate we are to live in America. It is just great to be an American with all the freedom we have.”
