The 1979 feed grain program, administered by the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service (ASCS), offers farmers higher target prices for their corn, sorghum and barley than the 1978 program offered.
T. R. Taylor, Chairperson of the Rappahannock County ASC committee, said the target price for corn will be S2.20 per bushel, as opposed to S2.10, and the diversion payment will be 10 cents a bushel, instead of 20 cents. The target price for sorghum was increased from S2.28 to S2.30 per bushel, and from S2.25 to S2.40 per bushel for barley.
Corn and sorghum producers will again be offered a 10 per cent setaside and a 10 per cent diversion program. There will be a 20 per cent set-aside program for barley in 1979,
