Since carpet manufacturers have devised their own trade names for synthetic fibers it is advisable to check with the sales person and read the label that must appear on all carpeting to leant the actual fiber content. If the carpet is a mixture of natural and synthetic (often mixed for greater wear), the label will indicate this, as well as the proportion of the mixture. The proportion is important because, for example, in a wool-nylon combination, you would want to know whether you are getting a rug that is primarily wool or primarily nylon. The wool rug would be the more highly recommended.
