Stir Crisco in hot potatoes, add sugar, salt and beat in eggs. Add to mixture of yeast and warm water. Beat in 3 cups flour, then add remaining flour. Store in refrigerator overnight. Take out and let rise double in size and bake in 400 degree F oven until done.

These gingerbread cookies are sure to please youngsters this Christmas. Elaine Wiley in Sperryville says they are the soft, puffy old fashioned kind.

Gingerbread Cookies

(or Gingerbread Boys)

Mjx one-third cup soft shortening, 1 cup brown sugar packed, 1‘/j cup dark molasses. Stir in two-thirds cup cold water. Sift together and stir in 6 cups sifted flour, 2 teaspoons soda. 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon allspice, 1 teaspoon ginger, 1 teaspoon cloves, 1 teaspoon cinnamon.

Chill dough. Roll out very thick (Vi) inch). Cut with 2‘/i inch round cutter or gingerbread boy cutter. Place far apart on lightly greased baking sheet. Bake until when touched lightly with finger no imprint remains, about 15 minutes. Temperature, 350 degiee oven. Makes about 2 and twothirds doz. fat puffy 2'/2" cookies.
