During the holidays our thoughts are filled with ideas of what to give each other. One of the nicest gifts we can give is part of Rappahannock. Flint Hill, Washington and Sperryville all have shops filled with gifts, many of which were made right here at home. Driving to Flint Hill is certainly a more beautiful drive than to one of the huge shopping centers in the city and shopping in , Rappahannock provides jobs and income for our residents.
If you haven’t been to some of the shops, I hope you will take the time to visit one or two—you just might find what you are looking for and maybe something even better.
The following recipes would also make delicious gifts for someone who doesn’t bake. Juanita Settle in Amissville gave me this recipe for rolls she guarantees all will enjoy.
Rolls
1 cup hot mashed potatoes (unseasoned)
2 pkgs. yeast
Va cup sugar (or less) ^ 1 tablespoon salt
2 eggs
2 cups warm water
