Deal In Pacific

Navy Aviation Ordinanceman Airman William R. Deal, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Deal of Sperryville, recently returned from an extended deployment in the Western Pacific.

He is serving as a member of Attack Squadron 27 (VA27) homebased at the Naval Air Station, LeMoore, Calif.. His squadron was embarked aboard the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise and operated as a unit of the U.S. Seventh Fleet.

During the cruise, Deal’s squadron participated in various training exercises with other Seventh Fleet Units and thr.^- allied runits an° -** visits were made in several Far Eastern countries. The squadron flies the A7E “Corsair II,” a jet bomber, designed for allweather operation and capable of both tactical bombing and providing close air support for ground troops.

Deal joined the Navy in September 1975.
