Mitchell Burke, son of Mr. and Mrs. William E. Burke of Boston, was the top Rappahannock winner at the annual Culpeper-MadisonRappahannock Farm Show held last week at the Culpeper Agricultural Enterprises. Mitchell had the reserve champion market hog and the reserve champion pen of three market hogs.
His reserve champion single hog weighed 222 pounds and was purchased by the Rappahannock Farmer’s Cooperative for S1.021/] per pound. Culpeper Frozen Foods bought Mitchell’s pen of three for 77.5 cents per pound.
Randall Updike and David Thornhill, leaders of the county’s 4-H livestock club, coached eleven youngsters in preparation for the farm show. Ike Leggett, son of Mr. and Mrs. I. W. Leggett of Castleton, won fifth place with his 180 pound market hog and Irvin Starks, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Starks of Washington, won Fifth with his 205 pound animal.
