“When I had a child late in life, and with no baby sitter, I needed a hobby to occupy my spare time. -1 needed more than just housework to keep me busy, so my interest in ceramics developed,” she said. "It gave me some spending money, too,” she added.
Picking up information from books, and asking questions at ceramics shops, she began doing ceramics using a method of experimentation and adaptation. She even went to Winchester and Fairfax to stores, asking questions and learning. She also bought a kiln to fire her work in, but she says that at first she “didn't know what to do with it.”
