Saturday, August 11, is a day to set aside for the Leeds Ruritan jousting tournament, barbecue and games held at the Ruritan Grounds, Hume.

The tournament starts at 3 p.m. and barbecue at 5 p.m.

This is the 19th year for this festive occasion. The jousting will have a senior and junior division with a silver bowl presented to the winner of each division as well as crowns of flowers crafted by Mrs. Tacie Kines for all who place to present to their ladies.

The beef barbecue, roasted in the slow traditional way, is tended through the night by Ruritan Club members who tell stories of families who traveled many miles to enjoy the dinner. Dinner for adults is $4 and for children under 12, $2.

Practice for horsemen starts Monday, August 6, in the evenings about 6 until dark. Costumes are encouraged for tournament day—let the chivalry of olden days live again.

Following the barbecue, the evening brings more games and fun. Come out to see your friends ride in this contest of skill and daring, have dinner with your neighbors and share our village’^ hospitality.
