Seasons
The seasons and bag limits for the forthcoming migratory game bird season were establised recently by the Commission of Game and Inland Fisheries during a meeting held in Richmond.
A split season for mourning doves will open at noon on Sept. 8, ending at sunset November 3. The second season for doves begins at noon Dec. 22, and closes Jan. 3, 1980. Bag limit for the dove season is 12 daily, and 24 in possession.
The season for rails (clapper, king, sora and Virginia) will open one-half hour before sunrise on Sept. 8, and will terminate daily at sunset. Closing date of the season is Nov. 16, with the following bag limits: clapper and king rail, 15 per day, 30 in possession; sora and Virginia rail, 25 per day, 25 in possession.
Woodcock season begins one-half hour before sunrise Oct. 22, ends at sunset Dec. 25. Bag limit for Woodcock is Five per day with 10 in possession.
A special split season for hunting rail, woodcock and doves, using falcons, begins at one-half hour before sunrise on Sept. 18, and ends at sunset Dec. 10. The second part of the falconry season begins one-half hour before sunrise on Dec. 22, and closes Jan 2, 1980. Bag limit is three per day and six in possession.
