charge from the health department in Washington. If a child cannot be immunized because of medical reasons, or if a series of immunizations have been started, but cannot be completed prior to the opening of school, a note from the doctor must so indicate.

The current immunization drive is part of a national effort to identify children who are not protected against the serious diseases of polio, measles, rubella, diphtheria, pertussis (whooping cough) and tetanus. State law now specifies that students are not to be admitted into a public school unless a medical report to include proper immunizations has been submitted to the school. Accordingly all kindergarten and transferees must submit a completed medical report prior to being assigned to a classroom.
