According to Dr. Sandy, 70 correct answers constituted a passing grade on the math exams for both fall and spring. The math portion of the competency tests included 99 questions each time.
Three to four thousand students throughout the state “who should have passed” would have failed the spring reading exam if the passing score had not been scaled, Sandy maintained.
RCHS Students Higher
Rappahannock’s ninth graders scored higher in the spring competency tests than did students from most nearby jurisdictions. In addition, county youngsters scored slightly higher than averages for the state on both portions of the test as the following table illustrates.
