She has written the book as a manual for the confused and sometimes angry parent who has suddenly discovered that his or her daughter is to have a child while still an unmarried adolescent. Oettinger feels very strongly that, while many books have been written on the subject within the medical and psychiatric fields, almost nothing has been written for the parent, or the par^professional, such as the counselor in a youthserving organization. And it is the parent who feels that he has failed in bringing up his daughter, who feels that she has betrayed her parents' moral values, and who has the most difficulty in understanding, and coping with, the problem.
