Miss Nancy Lea Cargill and William Wayne Wilkes III were united in marriage Saturday, August 11, 1979 at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Bedford. Dr. Glenn E. Busch, Rector of St. John’s and the Rev. Charles F. Glaenzer, of Highland Springs, officiated at the 4:30 p.m. double ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John George Cargill, Jr. of Moneta, and is the granddaughter of Mrs. Thurmond Carlyle Lea of Washington, and the late Mr. Lea. The bridegroom is the son of Mrs. William Woodrow Wilkes of Bedford, and the late Mr. Wilkes.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore an organza gown featuring a Queen Anne neckline and a bodice trimmed with chantilly lace and seed pearls. The full skirt was edged with scalloped chantilly lace over a pleated ruffle which ended in a chapel train.
