She can also tell them apart by feeling their fur, a handy talent in the dark when she needs to know who’s got their claws in her back. And, considering that all five adult poodles sleep in bed with one family member or another, the question of who’s clawing whom is not too farfetched. “They say that politics make strange bedfellows and boy, do I have a lot of strange bedfellows,” Marilyn laughed. “I have to creep out of bed at night as carefully as when I had sleeping, nursing babies.”
The poodles she worries about disturbing have learned to prefer box springs to a dog box and sleep all along both sides of her body.
Luckily, unique poodle characteristics make them more tolerable as bed fellows and house mates than other breeds. “They don’t shed at all—no more than people and they have no doggie odor,” said Marilyn.
