Loudoun in the sea of the 20th Judicial Circuit. But Snead never let that happen. He only held court here a few days out of every month but he was always available to lawyers and average citizens alike. If someone needed to see him, Snead would schedule appointments at his courthouse office in the morning before he left for Loudoun and Fauquier or after he returned home late in the afternoon. He met with local folks during his time off the bench and on weekends and holidays. Although not strictly a county judge, he fulfilled all the requirements and met all the needs of Rappahannock. If a qualified, interested candidate can be found, we hope that his replacement will also be from the county.
Snead will be a hard man to follow. Some are swallowed by the power and authority embodied in the trappings of the office. The black robes of a judge fit Rayner V. Snead.
