NEW FORAGE SEEDINGS
August is the month for establishing new forage stands. Alfalfa and tall grass - clover stands generally should be seeded before September 1 in moist, triable^ but firm, seedbeds. The goal is to have seedlings strong enough to survive the winter and be ready to take off next spring.
DM V Error
Because of a computer programming error, about 14,000 Virginia drivers whose licenses expire in September have been notified by the Division of Motor Vehicles to renew their licenses on Sunday—when the agency is closed.
Vern L. Hill, DMV Commissioner, said the error was not discovered until most of the notices had been mailed. Citizens who receive the notices should disregard the Sunday appointment date, and renew their licenses on a weekday convenient for them. Hill said.
All DMV branch offices are open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:30 to 4:30 and on Thursday from 10 to 6.
