TOP DRESS FESCUE
If you haven’t already top dressed the fescue fields you are planning to use for winter grazing, you should get this job done within the next few days. Mow or graze stand so that it is two to four inches tall. Top dress with 60-75 pounds of nitrogen per acre. Include P205 and K20 as indicated by soil test.
Pull cattle off the tall fescue before fertilizing. Shut the gate and keep cows on other pasture until they are grazed down (usually early November). Then turn cows back on fescue for winter grazing.
