Judge William W. Carson Jr. of Warrenton will retire from “the people’s court,” General District Court for Fauquier, Loudoun and Rappahannock counties, Dec. 31 and return to private, law practice.

“If I serve another term, I' won’t be permitted to practice law, and it is a privilege I want to retain,” said Judge Carson, who first sat on the bench in Fauquier in 1968.

General District Court does not conduct jury trials.
