Loans at five percent interest are available to cover farm damage, including physical and production losses. Longer term loans to finance reorganization of farm production programs carry interest rates between nine and nine-and-a-half percent.
Rural area disaster loans to aid home owners are available from FmHA to persons who qualify for regular FmHA home loans, according to Allen. Criteria include adjusted income of $15,600; inability to obtain financing from other sources and ability to repay the loan. The rural area disaster loans may cover damages to private roads, driveways and bridges, and water supplies, including wells and springs.
ASCS Assistance
Farmers with farmland damaged by the recent flood may sign up for emergency conservation programs at the local ASCS office from Monday, September 10, through Friday, September 21. The four practices covered under the emergency conservation program include:

Soccer Meeting
Saturday
A short meeting of adults interested in helping with the fall soccer program will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 8, at the elementary school athletic field. Volunteers do not have to have soccer experience. An interest in sports and kids is all that is necessary.
Soccer registration for boys and girls ages eight years through high school will be held at 11 a.m. following the short meeting. Registration fee is $4 per child with a maximum of $7 per family. The soccer program is sponsored by the Rappahannock Athletic Association.
