According to Ernie King from the planning division of the State Office of Emergency Services, ASCS emergency conservation funds for the current fiscal year have been expended. ASCS, as a federal office, operates under the federal fiscal year which ends September 30.

King reported that a bill providing ASCS funding for the fiscal year beginning October 1 has passed the U. S. House of Representatives and the Senate. Final approval of the bill, however, has been delayed by a conference scheduled to resolve questions unrelated to the ASCS disaster assistance programs, according to King. As the funds are expected to be available October 1, he urged all qualifying farmers to sign up immediately for the energency conservation nroerams.
