The flood waters that blocked Pawley’s driveway, forcing the couple to evacuate their house through a back window, washed over Route 622. The road bed was under 8 to 12 feet of water, judging from the debris left hanging in trees when the flood subsided.
Orville C. Faulkner, whose house sits on a hill 100 yards or so from the river on the opposite side of the road, had three automobiles and a pick-up truck swept downstream.
