Apple Day
Planned
The Rappahannock County Historical Society will sponsor an “Apple Day” on Saturday, October 20, at the Rappahannock Recreation Center on Route 211 at Washington.
County orchardists will have graded varieties of apples for sale as well as cider and other apple products. Ladies of the Historical Society will offer a wide selection of apple baked goods fresh from the oven at the Society’s building in Washington.
As added attractions, “Apple Day” will feature blue grass music, archery demonstrations and an exhibit of antique apple packing and processing equipment. In addition, the Rappahannock Dancers will perform several numbers in costume and Jonas Jenkins will be on hand to demonstrate how to make apple butter.
According to Bill Lyne, chairman of the Society’s “Apple Day” committee, these are but a few of the attractions planned. “Apple day” will also coincide with the Rappahannock House Tour and dried flower sale sponsored by the women of Trinity Episcopal Church.
