Graveside services for Robert Eugene Wood and his wife, Virginia Fletcher Wood, were held Friday at Fairview Cemetery in Culpeper conducted by the Rev. A. Paul Thompson.
The couple perished in a flash flood, Tuesday evening at Sperryville. Their bodies were found early Wednesday morning by Sperryville .Rescue Squad workers and volunteers.
Mr. Wood, 65, was a former Virginia state trooper, an orchardist and a member of the board of directors of the Fidelity American Bank in Culpeper.
Mrs. Wood, 62, was a native of Rappahannock County. She and her husband were members of the Sperryville Baptist Church. They leave no immediate survivors.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Sperryville Rescue Squad.
