The Rappahannock Board of Supervisors voted at a special meeting on Thursday, August 30, to declare that a state of emergency Exists in the county as a result of last week’s floods.

Noting that local resources are “unable to cope” with conditions, the board also voted to request Virginia Governor John Dalton to proclaim that an emergency exists here.

On Friday, August 31, Dalton signed the emergency proclamation.
