The Rappahannock League for Environmental Protection will hold its annual meeting this Friday, September 7 at the courthouse in Washington at 7:30 p.m. Headlining the public meeting will be a panel discussion on Virginia’s Agricultural Districts. Under recently enacted enabling legislation, landowners with property in agriculture or forest production can obtain benefits to help them stay in business.
The panel will consist of the following:
Carl Westfelt is a Warren County farmer and a member of the first Ag District to be created in the state. Chap Barnes is the executive director of the Piedmont Environmental Council, an organization long advocating such assistance to farmers. John Capelle is well known locally as the executive director of the 9th regional planning district commission.
