Photographing weather phenomena has been the avocation of David Hoadley for twenty-four years and he has travelled over a quarter million miles in pursuit of, primarily, tornadoes to capture them on film. He has accumulated one of the finest slide collections in the country, and will present them Thurs., Sept. 20, at Rappahannock County library at 7:30.
For most of the year Hoadley is engaged in program planning and budget analysis for the Environmental Portection Agency. But when vacation time arrives, he drives to the mid-west and for about three weeks searches out violent storms which spawn tornadoes. Charting weather patterns and keeping close contact with weather stations, he is able to be in the right place at the right time to catch some magnificent shots of severe turbulent weather.
Hoadley will also show a motion picture of tornadoes, discuss the conditions which lead to the storms, offer advice on safety precautions to take during severe weather and relate some of his stormchasing experiences.
