The “Helping hand of Lionism” reached out to Rock Mills last week as ten members of Rappahannock Lions Club helped Edward and Helen Pawley resume their life after being driven from their home by last Tuesday’ flood waters.
The Pawleys evacuated their home when the water reached their front steps. Going almost on hands and knees up a steep embankment they proceeded to a neighbors house and waited as the Thornton River crested 20 feet above its normal level. This was about 5 feet up in Pawley’s house.
