Preliminary estimates made by an assessment team total $539,000 and cover:
—minor damage to 20 homes at $20,000, —damage to 70 private roads and driveways at $80,000, —damage to one business (the Teepee Restaurant in Sperryville) at $2,000,
—damage to 17 vehicles at $27,000,
—major, moderate and minor damage to 700 acres of corn at $150,000,
—damage to four farm buildings at $15,000,
—livestock losses of 10 cattle at $5,000,
—replacemen of 15 miles of fencing at $150,000
—erosion damage and debris clean-up for 900 acres of farmland at $90,000.
According to the preliminary damage report, 50 county farmers were affected by losses.

Bull Roast
Scheduled
The Washington Volunteer Fire Department will herald the arrival of fall on Saturday, September 22. with a bull roast from 4 to 8 p.m. Succulent beef from an organically grown, locally raised bull, roasted in an old style pit, will be the main dish for the day. Along with that, home grown vegetables, home made iced tea and other beverages will be served. Steve Critzer is in charge of the roast.
Late in the afternoon, a 1979 Ford pick-up truck will be given away. In addition, a door prize will be presented each hour. Entertainment and other details will be announced later.
